Production/Assembly Technician

Purpose and scope of the role: Support the manufacture, assembly and logistics associated with OPT’s products.

Location: Warwick

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assist in the assembly, integration and test of large electro-mechanical systems both in-house and through subcontractors;
  • Ensuring the manufacture of the devices to specification, quality and timescale;
  • Implement OPT’s Health and Safety procedures to all processes
  • Chase up suppliers, arrange delivery logistics both to OPT (Warwick) and to project sites
  • Control and organize tool and fittings supply in Warwick and to site.

Key skills and competences:

  • Experience in the manufacture and/or assembly of technical products - preferable of a large/complex nature (e.g. steel structures, hydraulic systems, electrical and electronics);
  • Good technical knowledge and the ability to apply knowledge to practical problems;
  • IT skills with particular knowledge of SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD an advantage; and
  • Time and resource planning.

Qualifications/experience:

  • Preferably apprentice trained or degree level or equivalent, ideally in an Engineering discipline;
  • Renewable projects experience useful;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Qualified fork lift truck driver would be an advantage
  • Must be able to travel and stay overseas for short periods in both the European and US locations;
  • Experience of power generation/utilities/refinery/marine industries an advantage; and
  • Good team player.
