PB500 – The PowerTower™

OPT is currently developing the PowerTower™, a PowerBuoy that will have a capacity rating of more than 500 kilowatts per installed unit. The PB500 development project within OPT moves through concept and final design to fabrication and installation, culminating with an operational test period proving the capabilities of the unit. The program builds on OPT's many successful deployments of similar but smaller PowerBuoys.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) and the UK Government are funding several stages of the PB500 development program. The successful completion of this product development is expected to take OPT's PowerBuoy technology to a new level of commercial, utility-scale product capability. The PB500 PowerTower™ is expected to improve on the customer value proposition of the PB150 and expand the available market areas for OPT's utility-scale product offering.
