Senior Electrical Engineer - Power

Reports To:  Director of Electrical Engineering

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  1. Design, build and test of distributed generation (DG) and remote stand-alone electric power systems, with focus on effective overall systems integration and control functions.
  2. Prepare plans for integration of electrical systems to local power girds
  3. Interface with utilities to determine system interface requirements.
  4. Perform computer modeling and software simulation of electrical / protection systems.
  5. Design appropriate electrical protection schema for DG (buoy ) installations
  6. Coordinate the work of one or more engineering teams to perform contracts for delivery of complete power generation power distribution systems or subsystems.
  7. Participate in high-level customer interface, presentations and proposal efforts.
  8. Exercise of task or project management responsibilities, including preparation and periodic review of project budgets and schedules.

Experience:
At least 8 years experience is required in the area of electric power system design, assembly, integration and test. Must have experience with specification of power grid interfaces; switchgear; transformers; fault protection/isolation devices and their coordination; power distribution methods and equipment; equipment and system grounding; power generation, conditioning and conversion equipment (e.g. generators, and DC/AC, AC/DC, DC/DC and AC/AC converters); system stability and transient design; and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system architectures and devices. Must have experience in design and layout of high-voltage power and control panels, cabinets, interconnecting cabling and systems. Should have working knowledge of National Electric Code, IEC and other applicable standards; distributed generation system grid connection; and voltage conversion and distribution .

Skills:
Computer proficiency and good interpersonal skills necessary. Experience with ISO9001-type procedures and practices a plus.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; prefer Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
