Senior Electrical Engineer - Controls

Reports To: Director of Electrical Engineering

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  1. Develop system / electrical specifications, architecture, functional partitioning, hardware and software.
  2. Select hardware components and devices.
  3. Develop / implement software to optimize the performance of the wave energy conversion systems and protect it during normal and fault conditions.
  4. Prepare detailed documentation for products including but not limited to schematics, Bill of Materials, wiring diagrams, specifications, functional descriptions, software requirements specifications.
  5. Coordinate the work of designers, technicians, consultants, vendors, and suppliers during the performance of contracts for delivery of complete data acquisition and control system and supporting software.
  6. Prepare detailed design plans for integration of electrical and electronics systems and its software.
  7. Perform technical design reviews.
  8. Participate in high level customer interface, presentation, and proposal efforts.
  9. Prepare and periodically review project electrical engineering and design budgets and schedules.
  10. Ability to travel domestic and foreign.

Experience:
At least 8 – 10 years experience is required in the area of motion servo controls programming and data acquisition. Must have good analytical skills. Experience with control of mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical and hydraulic systems is desired. Must have experience developing custom equipment in a product development environment.  Must have skills in other engineering disciplines and be able to coordinate the work of multidisciplinary team. Experience with AutoCAD and OrCAD a plus.  Realtime programming experience with LABVIEW a plus.

Skills:
Strong Computer proficiency. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have good interpersonal and presentation skills.

Education:
Require - B.S. Electrical Engineering Degree with Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
